Jul 26, 2013 - Distribute goods in Lộc Bảo, Lâm Đồng

Our journey to Lam Dong Monastery took around 5-6 hours traveling through extremely rough roads followed by secluded hills. We made many stops to ask for directions and received no luck because not many people new the exact location of this place. After many hours of driving we were praying to arrive before the sun set because there were no lights in this area at all. We finally arrived at Tu Vien Bat Nha just in time as the sun came down. Located in the hills of Bao Loc, Lam Dong Monastery was where we were lodging for the night. The following morning, we woke up at 5 am to travel for another 2 hours to an even more rural area where villagers were gathering to receive their goods. We gave out presents to 300 children each including toothpaste, toothbrushes, rice, noodles, pastries, notebooks.

Through all my summers on mission trips, I'd have to admit this was one of the hardest locations to travel to. Traveling through rural hills and getting lost was definitely not fun, but I'll admit it was very adventurous. This trip was very worthwhile and I'm very happy to have accomplished it. We are the 1st group that has made it to this area and it was a wonderful feeling seeing how happy the children were to participate in activities with volunteers and to receive their presents.
