How much of my money actually goes to the recipient?

100% of your sponsorship or donation goes towards funding scholarships or various other projects such as providing gifts to

children in poor villages.

How does Golden Hearts select a scholarship recipient?

Golden Hearts has a rigorous vetting process consisting of the following 3 parts: 

  1. Submission of report cards for 3 consecutive years with an 8/10 point average in all subjects 

  2. Proof of low income 

  3. In person interview by Golden Hearts team member from Vietnam 

Once accepted to the program, students can renew their scholarship annually by submitting report cards at the end of their school year.

What is the amount of an average scholarship?

Our scholarships are broken down into 3 levels:

  • Middle School: $150 USD

  • High School: $200 USD

  • College: $250 - $1000 USD

 

Can I donate by credit card? 

Yes. Golden Hearts accepts donations Check, Cash or via Paypal

Do I get tax exemptions when I donate to A Union of Golden Hearts?

Yes. Golden Hearts is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, your donations are tax deductible. When you donate to us, you will receive a receipt acknowledging your donation that can be used for tax-filing purposes.

 

​What does Golden Hearts do with my one-time donation?

Unless you specify which project(s) you wish to support, Golden Hearts will apply your donation towards our general fund for existing scholarship students and gifting projects. 

We do not use any portion of your donation to cover our operational expenses.

 

Can I specify which project I want my money to go to?

Yes, you may hand-select students based on region and inform us that you would like to apply your donation towards his/her scholarship. 

 

Do A Union of Golden Hearts members get paid?

NoGolden Hearts is a volunteer-driven organization. All board members and team members of Golden Hearts in both the United States and Vietnam are volunteers.
