Buon Hring is home to the Xe Dang ethnic community, where life is marked by both resilience and hardship. Many children leave school prematurely, marry young, and grow up in large families where consistent care is scarce. In some households, parents work far away as laborers or pig farmers, leaving older siblings to care for the younger ones—conditions that contribute to a high rate of childhood malnutrition.
A unique cultural feature of the village lies in its naming tradition. Residents typically do not use family surnames. Boys often receive the prefix “A” before their given names, while girls are given “H.” Some families, however, choose names purely based on personal preference, without any prefix. This custom, while distinctive, makes it difficult to trace close family relationships and adds to the community’s singular identity.
