Tonle Sap, Cambodia, December 21-23, 2012

A Journey to bring love to the lives of Tonle Sap, Cambodia. The unfortunate Vietnamese immigrants in Tonle Sap, Cambodia lack the basic necessities of life. There are approximately 2,000 Vietnamese currently living here, afloat amidst this endless lake day and night, without any escape. It is heartbreaking to see mothers and their children just around the age of 5 or 6 with filthy rags on swimming after tour boats to plead for money from tourists passing by. They live day by day with no thoughts of a future ahead of them. Families have been stranded here for 3 generations…

Along with around 27 members from “Vo Thuong”, I traveled here from December 21-23, 2012. Our long and tedious journey began at 4am and went on until 11pm, transporting hundreds of lbs. of gifts, and traveling over hundreds of miles (6 hours by bus followed by 4 by boat). Although our visit did not leave a long lasting impact, we hope to have made a slight different in these people’s lives. Perhaps we were able to bring a smile to their faces and weeks without starvation/hunger. Each family/child received candy, cookies, rice, oil, milk, used clothing, etc. We were able to see the miserable lives they lead with our own eyes…This journey undoubtedly left an impression in our hearts forever.

My sincere gratitude to Mr. Thich Minh Phu (Giac Nguyen Temple) and his crew for coordinating and taking care of the rest of the crew on this trip. Thank you to Deputy Prime Minister Mrs. Men Sam An for organizing and ensuring our safety. Thank you from the bottom heart to all donors, to members of Vo Thuong, and the rest of the volunteers for making this trip possible. Thank you to your words of support and faith in me for all this time. It has been such a worthwhile and amazing journey that will leave memories in my heart forever. Compassion is a beautiful thing, it is what makes our world go round. I hope that one day, all of you can accompany me on a journey like this, so that you can also see how blessed we are compared to those in these 3rd world countries. This trip has made 2012 complete. Wishing everyone lots of happiness and thank you again for your endless support and making my passion possible.
